I have been taking Cefadroxil for 4 days now and I have to take it for another 3 days (7 days total). The pain is still there, is it normal after 4 days?

The antibiotic was prescribed for a heel wound infection.

This can indeed be normal.

Where is the wound for which you received an antibiotic?

Has the pain decreased at least a little?

What about other wound assessment criteria (redness, size, etc.)? Have they improved?

Please provide this information so that I can better respond to you.

Thank you for the quick response. The wound is located near the heel and the pain, redness, and swelling have not diminished, but have not grown any larger.

It is true that in the majority of cases, symptoms would have improved after 4 days of treatment (if, of course, the antibiotics were taken as prescribed).

Considering that Cefadroxil is a good choice in the treatment of skin infections, that you do not suffer from diabetes and that you consider your symptoms to be stable since the beginning of your treatment, I recommend that you wait another 24-48 hours before going to see a doctor again. Perhaps this extra time will allow you to see a change in the infection.

I also recommend that if you have not already done so, you trace the area around the sore/reddened area with a pen, to better assess the evolution of your symptoms. The doctor will also appreciate that you have done this.

Note that the lack of improvement could also tell us that it is not, in fact, an infection at all. Keep in mind!
