I drink a lot of water - advil or tylenol don't change anything - I take honey by the spoonful - I used echinaforce sore throat spray.

I have had a sore throat for over a week and a half. My boyfriend had strep throat (he just finished his 10 days of antibiotics). I don't have a white spot in the back of my throat, but my throat is red and irritated. I did not have any fever. The pain does not go away and does not diminish day by day. What should I do? I am leaving on a trip on March 26 and I don't want to have this pain...

Good morning, Mrs,
If your situation persists for more than 7 days without improvement, you should consult a physician to properly assess your symptoms and not delay their management.
If you have any kind of runny or blocked nose, I strongly encourage you to use a saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse as often as necessary during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. Tylenol and lozenges such as Halls or Fisherman's Friend can relieve irritation locally and I also encourage you to drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot, as you prefer.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
