Hello,
Usually, the additional vaccine to receive for a trip to Cuba is the Twinrix against hepatitis A and B. For adults, it is not included in the regular vaccination schedule, so it must be administered separately. For children, vaccination against hepatitis A and B is completed with one dose of hepatitis A and B in the 4th grade of primary school and one dose of hepatitis B between the ages of 14 and 16. When the child travels to a country like Cuba where these hepatitises are prevalent, it is recommended to anticipate these doses given in the regular schedule.
If you would like to be vaccinated or have more information (especially on the medication to bring against traveler's diarrhea), I recommend that you ask your local pharmacy. Many pharmacies offer the travel health service and the pharmacists and/or nurses on site can provide you with the necessary medication and/or vaccines. It is best to contact them at least one month before your trip.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Sarah-Yan Chagnon, pharmacist
