Should my son get the flu shot if he has had the flu?

My 4 year old son was diagnosed with influenza last Thursday. I would like to have him vaccinated as per his pediatrician's request since he is asthmatic.

Yes, getting the flu shot is recommended even if he has had the flu

I just recommend waiting until he is well enough to travel to get the vaccine.

The reason is that there are several strains of the flu, and although he has had the flu, he may not have caught the strain that the vaccine is for.
