Can I take Benadryl for a swollen eye?

Question

Under the eye, swollen following a sting I seem to have had an insect bite on my face under my eye... On the other hand it swells and becomes very uncomfortable .... Can benadryl help? If so I only have a bottle for children... because I'm traveling in Mexico right now.

Hello ma'am, I am sorry to read about your troubles! I would suggest that you first try applying ice in a wet towel for 10-15 minutes as often as needed during the day. If this does not help or the situation remains intolerable, using Benadryl might help, but keep in mind that it can greatly numb. The dose is 25 mg every 6 hours, which is 20 ml at a time for the product with concentration of 6.25mg per 5 ml. Hopefully I have been helpful, I remain available if you have any further questions!
