She doesn't seem to have any difficulty breathing and she remains in good shape. The redness disappears within 1 hour after ingesting the food.

What should I do, continue to expose him or stop giving him this food altogether until I have an appointment with a doctor?

Hello,
Tomatoes are basically acidic foods and can be irritating. I don't think we are dealing with a food allergy here

Especially if the symptoms disappear after 1 hour, it seems to me more an irritation of the mucous membrane, than an allergy.

Can I send you a picture of the rash?
Jean-Sébastien Lecompte · 4 years ago
Yes, of course!

I am unable to send a picture through the site. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an allergy starter

If you can send me your e-mail address I could surely send you the picture

I understand,
If it was an allergy, there would probably be 2 main characteristics. With each exposure, i.e. each time your baby eats it, the level of the reaction would increase. Also, there could be tingling or burning in the throat. He or she may have abdominal pain as well.
At this point, I really think we can rule out allergy (as long as we don't see the symptoms I just mentioned).
I hope that answers your question

This is sent via the e-mail you sent me
I will wait to hear from you, thank you very much

You did well to send me the picture. It's more extensive than I thought. If it's worse than the other times, it's a sign that the reaction is progressing. For now, I think you would be better off not giving him any more tomato products. You don't necessarily have to conclude that he is allergic right away
However, it would be better to wait a few months and expose your baby to tomato products again afterwards to see if he or she still reacts. A break followed by a new exposure to the allergen usually confirms the allergy

In the meantime, if the redness does not disappear after an hour or two, you could apply a small cream based on ydrocortisone 0.5% (low dosage and safe even for newborns) twice a day. If everything is gone after a few hours, there is nothing more to do
