Hello Ma'am,
Hard to say! Babies this young sometimes make repetitive movements (e.g., rubbing their eyes) in an automated way for no apparent reason.
If you are concerned about this, you could videotape the child while doing it and show your doctor at your next appointment.
But I doubt the rubbing is coming from your child's discomfort.
