What dose of Acetaminophen for a 10-month-old baby?

28-year-old woman5 years ago
10 month old baby with fever (39+); she weighs 20 lbs. I would like to know if Acetaminophen 120mg suppositories are still adequate for her weight. She does not tolerate the liquid Tylenol for infants nor the liquid Tempra.

Hello !
Thank you for your question
For a 20lbs child, the recommended dose of Acetaminophen suppository could be 120mg every 4 to 6 hours for a maximum of 5 suppositories per 24h. It could also be adequate to opt for 160mg suppositories, but the maximum dose would then be 4 suppositories per 24 hours (so they should be administered every 6 hours at least)
Note that if she could tolerate the liquid formulation, the dose would be 135mg at that time
I hope I have answered your question. I remain available for further information!
