My baby is 4 months old and is starting rice cereal. He has been constipated for 5 days. What can I do? He weighs 12.4 lbs. Thank you for your help!

P.s. The oatmeal gave her an eczema attack on her face.

Hello,
In order to answer properly, I need some additional information.
Has he had a bowel movement anyway?
Does he have difficulty evacuating the stools or are they more like little balls?

He has not had a bowel movement at all since starting the cereal and he is nursing
Before he started the cereal, he had no problem pooping. He did it every day

Thanks for the clarification. The first step would be to try glycerin suppositories. 1/2 suppository for children to repeat 1 hour later if needed
If that is ineffective, I would suggest Lax-A-Day. The dose for her weight would be about 1/4 scoop (4.25g) once a day

Is there a particular kind of suppository for a baby? Can the unused half be used later? Is it ok to put it in a closed jar or should I throw it away?
Thank you for your help!

Unfortunately, only glycerin suppositories for children are available. The unused half can be put back in the foil package for proper storage
