Hi, my 9 month old baby burned his tummy. I am wondering if I should always cover the belly or if I should leave it out?

My baby spilled a glass of boiling water on his stomach. I immediately put some compresses on it and called info santé. They guided me and advised me to give tylenol for the pain, polysporin on the wounds and to cover for the night. The burn seems to be at the 2nd degree (visible water blisters). I am wondering if tomorrow I would be better off covering her belly with a bandage like I do at night, or if I can take it off and just put a sweater on her (note that she gets up everywhere so her belly rubs on the toy furniture). I feel like closing the wound doesn't allow for breathing, but I'm afraid of possible infractions too. For information: the incident happened around 11am, she had tylenol and then I made her sleep on me for 2 hours, she woke up with a smile, the wound did not seem to bother her at all. She only cried when I applied polysporin. She is eating and drinking normally. I continue to give tylenol/advil. Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,
You should clean the area with soap and a dermal antiseptic or apply a moisturizing gel. Given the risk of infection, avoid any contact between the skin and the outside. Once the bubbles are pierced, a "crust" will form. This should not be torn off, as this would slow down the healing process and increase the risk of visible scarring.
A greasy dressing is applied to the burn, which is changed every two days. So you can put the polysporin after the dressing.
In case of aggravation of the burn with increase or reappearance of pain and inflammation, it is better to consult because there is a risk of superinfection.
