Hello! Baby 2 months and 1/2, no fever but congested nose, voice more hoarse than usual (as if he lost his voice) what to do?

I give her the Hydra-Sense baby fly twice a day and I also give her Camylia (from Boiron for colds) once a day. But it doesn't seem to work!

Hello Ma'am,
For nasal symptoms, nasal hygiene is a good option for your baby, and can be done to the baby up to 6 times a day. I've attached this guide from CHU Ste-Justine for detailed steps and the amount of saline water to use for proper nasal hygiene: https://www.chusj.org/getmedia/d81f7af6-a93c-4e86-9011-f523e13279a8/depliant_F-886_hygiene-nasale.pdf.aspx?ico=.pdf
Also, a humidifier or cool mist spray near your baby's crib may help as well. If your baby has a dry nose, he or she may also have a congested nose. The steam can help moisten and loosen the mucus in his nose.
For his voice, there is no miracle treatment to bring his voice back, but some steps may help your child. It is recommended that your child drink often, this helps lubricate the throat. If he seems to be in pain, acetaminophen may help.
As far as the Camylia product (from the Boiron company for colds) is concerned, in general, I do not recommend this product because there is simply no scientific basis to show that this product has any benefits for relieving your child.
Finally, I recommend that you see a doctor if your baby has any of the following symptoms:
  • fever
  • rash
  • nose congestion with swelling of the forehead, eyes, sides of the nose or cheeks
  • nose congestion lasting more than 7 days despite proper nasal hygiene
  • difficulty breathing or rapid breathing
  • great difficulty drinking or refusing to drink
  • very cranky or achy mood.
Do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions.
Happy day,
