For the last 3 weeks my knee has been swollen and painful when I walk, following X-rays I have arthritis in this knee. I take extra strong tylenol and I rub myself with voltarin. What can I do to relieve my pain. Thank you

My answer may surprise you, but medication may not be the answer here.

Several studies have looked at this issue, and it is becoming increasingly clear that medications have little effect on the symptoms of osteoarthritis. Instead, it is recommended that you exercise and train your knee. Considering your symptoms, I recommend that you consult a physiotherapist and that you do so under supervision.
