Should I continue my pill even if I am bleeding?

Hello! I usually take the Alesse pill with the placebo sugar pills. However, since I had forgotten, my pharmacist advised me to take it continuously and to take another box. I now had 3 pills left before I got my period. However, I just had my period now!

Hello Mrs
Keep in mind that the bleeding you are experiencing is not menstruation, but withdrawal bleeding. Therefore, I advise you to follow the initial recommendations of your pharmacist. If you need more specific information about your case, I invite you to contact her directly, as she knows your case much better :)

Thank you! I followed my pharmacist's recommendation to take the pill continuously for the second month
I followed my pharmacist's recommendation to take the pill continuously for the 2nd month. However, since I am bleeding today and I still have 3 pills to take before I actually get my period, I was wondering what to do... either stop or continue as if nothing had happened.

It is best to continue as if nothing happened, and if there is no missed pill next month, a break period can be taken if you wish. The reason for this is that even if you have had bleeding, the missed pill may not be as effective as it should be. Again, the bleeding you have is not a period, only a "withdrawal" bleed.

Perfect, so I take my pink active pills even if I have bleeding? And then I'll have my real period and I'll take my placebo pills and then start again as if nothing had happened?

Yes, you continue to take the active tablets until the end of the next package. You can take the inactive tablets from the second package if you have not forgotten
Sincerely
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
