I stopped the Evra contraceptive patch last Tuesday and my period is present but in very small quantities. Is this normal?

It started 4 days after the patch was removed. Normally, it doesn't take this long and my period has a regular flow. What could be causing this?

Hello Ma'am,
There are many possible explanations for irregular menstrual cycles. It is therefore difficult to offer you a specific answer. It is not abnormal for periods to be out of sync or less abundant, over the long term. The most important thing, however, is to continue taking your contraception regularly, according to your schedule. This means keeping a break of no more than 7 days between your cycles. Do not rely on the time of onset of bleeding to resume birth control. This would decrease the effectiveness of contraception in preventing pregnancy.
Finally, some of the risk factors for irregularity include stress, a change in diet, sudden weight loss, strenuous exercise, etc.
I hope this answers your question.
