After how long does a menstrual cycle become regular?

30-year-old woman3 years ago
I stopped the contraceptive pill in February 2021 and since then I have had different cycles (22, 35, 40, 46 days) and it doesn't become regular, I wonder if one day it will. Last week I was supposed to be in my cycle on October 20, I had all the cramps and headaches possible and nothing at all. Is it possible to be pregnant and still have menstrual cramps? I did a test on October 19th which was negative, was it too early? Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,
There are many elements to consider in your question. I must first validate some information with you in order to answer as well as possible
Did you have irregular cycles before taking the contraceptive pill?
Are you currently experiencing other symptoms such as breast tenderness, nausea, tightness in the lower abdomen?
Are you currently in the process of conceiving?

Thank you for the clarification.
Was your cycle regular before taking the pill?
Some women use the pill to regulate their cycle
It may have been too early for a pregnancy test. Since you have no other symptoms, it is difficult to be 100% sure. I suggest that you take another test tomorrow. Normally, a few days after your expected period, the chances of detecting a positive pregnancy are higher. Since you have no particular symptoms, a pregnancy does not seem very likely, but in order to validate it, I still suggest that you take another pregnancy test. As for the regularity of your cycle, unfortunately there is nothing to do except to evaluate the probable causes with your gynecologist
Lastly, I know that in some people, the COVID-19 vaccine may have temporarily disrupted menstruation. I don't know if this could be related

I can't tell you if I had a regular cycle before taking the pill because I got my period late (14 years old) and I started taking the pill at 15 so I don't really remember (I'm 27)
I thought about the link between the COVID-19 vaccine and my period
I'm going to do a pregnancy test tomorrow and I'm going to make an appointment with a gynecologist to see more clearly
Thank you for your time
