Antibiotics and alcohol

Question

I took 6 antibiotic pills to treat chlamydia, but I drank 2 beers at the same time and the next day I drank about 10 beers. Do I need to go to the doctor for a new prescription or will the antibiotics still work? Thank you

Hello, The effectiveness of the antibiotics used to treat this type of infection should not be reduced by alcohol consumption. The treatment should have worked. However, if you notice that the symptoms persist one week after completing the treatment, I recommend that you go back to the clinic for a follow-up test. It would also be important to abstain from sexual relations for 7 days following the treatment and to notify all contacts you have had in the last 60 days so that they can be treated as well.
