I am 50 years old. My menstruation is black and greyish, is this normal at the beginning of menopause?

It's been like this for a few months. The bleeding changes colors and textures in the same period. Brown clots when I wake up, red and abundant blood for a day and the rest of the time it's patchy, clots, nothing for a few hours and then it comes back. I wear a ring for a lower bladder. I can't wear it when I have my period. When I think my period is over, I put it on and at night when I take it off, I have secretions stuck to it that are greyish.
