Very strong seasonal allergies, Antihistamines don't seem to work on my 22 month old boy. What should I do?

Is it possible that the recommended dose on the package is not suitable for him? He is having trouble drinking, eating, and sleeping because he is always congested. He weighs 32 pounds and takes either Aerius 2.5ml per day or Reactin 5 ml per day. For your information, he has food allergies to eggs, milk protein, bovine protein and corn protein.

Good evening ma'am,
How long has he been congested like this? And how long have you been giving him the antihistamines you described in your question? And do you give them every day?

Hello, he has been congested since early April but it has gotten much worse since we have been going outside more during the day ( about 2 weeks). He has no fever accompanied by his congestion. He was already taking antihistamine every day (reactin) for 6 months because he often had hives related to his food allergies. We tried to see if Aerius made a difference but it doesn't help him any more unfortunately.

The dose at this age is 1.25 mg, once daily. The child's product usually has a concentration of 0.5 mg / mL (see here), so you would need to give him a dose of 2.5 mL once a day. Are you giving him this dose correctly?

The dose of Aerius we give him is well 2.5ml every 24 hours. If we give him reactin it is more like 5ml every 24 hours.

That's fine then. If he doesn't respond well to these medications, it is possible to see a doctor to receive a prescription for a medication that will be administered in addition to Reactin, but this time through the nose. We could also look into rupatadine, a medication by mouth.

All right, I'll make an appointment with a doctor in that case!
Thanks for your help!
Happy day :)
