My baby has had yellowish discharge from one eye for 1 week?

My baby has yellowish secretions in one eye for 1 week. I remove it twice a day with a wet pipe cleaner. Should I go see a doctor? Could it be conjunctivitis? Is this normal?

Hello Mrs,
If the secretions persist for more than a week without improvement, you should consult your doctor.
Does your child have other symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose?
Are the secretions colored all day or only after naps for example?

Hello,
the secretions are only present after naps. My baby has no other symptoms..

Thanks for the information!
In the vast majority of cases it could be viral in origin, so it goes away on its own after 7 days at most. Just clean the area with a clean wet towel. Avoid sharing the towel as a precaution.
As mentioned, if it lasts more than 7 days without improvement, you should consult a doctor.
