Should I go see a doctor for my 6-month-old baby who has had a fever since December 25 at the end of the day? He has a cough and a stuffy nose.

He is a little bit shy, but still in a good mood (laughing, playing). Drinks well, eats well, wets his diapers... so I wonder if I should go see a doctor? Because his fever goes away when I give him tylenol! Usually his fever is there in the morning and at the end of the day!

Good evening ma'am,
It is usually recommended to go to the doctor at this age when the fever has been present for more than 3 days.
So here is what I recommend.
Tomorrow in the daytime, use the technique described on pages 6 and 7 of the following document produced by St. Justine Hospital. Do this with 5 mL of salt water in each nostril (using a needleless syringe) 1 time upon awakening, then every 3 hours for a total of 5 times during the day.
This technique will remove a very large amount of mucus from his nose and may help to reduce or even stop the fever in less than 48 hours.
If you see that by early afternoon tomorrow his fever seems to be decreasing and he is less angry, you could continue the technique through the weekend. If not, you will need to consult tomorrow PM.
Good evening,
Alexandre Chagnon, pharmacist
