I am no longer breastfeeding, I am giving Similac to my 3 month old baby. Should I continue to give vitamin D on the side or not?

In my opinion, yes. But just to make sure, can you look in the medicinal ingredients of the Similac™ commercial formula you use for your baby and check that they don't contain the name vitamin D or cholecalciferol?

So that means you can stop giving the vitamin D supplement, as it is contained in the formula.
