I am breastfeeding my 5 month old baby and I am going to Mexico. If I get traveler's diarrhea, what antibiotic can I take? Do I need it for my baby too?

Hello Ma'am,
You do not need a traveler's diarrhea antibiotic for your child if he or she is exclusively breastfed. We could still bring dehydration medication (such as Pedialyte™) as a preventative measure, but you are unlikely to need it.
For you, you will need to use a medication that is perfectly compatible with breastfeeding, such as azithromycin. There is some evidence that for a very short period of time, ciprofloxacin is also compatible with breastfeeding.
Bref, you can stop by the pharmacy and they will prescribe it for you.
Try it,
