How long does an allergic reaction last if I gave my daughter Benadryl?

33-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, This morning, my 2 year old daughter rubbed her eyes while we were applying sunscreen (sunshade). She started to run from her nose and eyes. Red patches started to appear only on her face. I decided to give her benadryl at 9:30 am. This one made effect quickly the plates disappeared, the nose ran not moment still. After her nap around 2:00 pm, her nose started to run again as well as her eyes. She didn't get a plaque again but considering that the other symptoms were getting worse I gave her a new dose around 2:30 pm. It is now 6:00 pm and her nose is running at times and she sneezes often. I am worried that the reaction is not going away (note that she had the same reaction 1 year ago and that only one dose was enough).

Hello, ma'am,
An allergic reaction may take several days to clear up, even if the suspected allergen is removed
If you are sure that it is an allergic reaction and that your child tolerates Benadryl, you can continue it
Having said that, I suggest that you consult your pharmacist to validate the dose you give your child, which is calculated according to his weight and the concentration of the product chosen.
I hope I have been helpful, do not hesitate if you have other questions

Thank you
Can the reaction get worse if I don't give a dose during the night? Can other symptoms appear?

There should be no symptoms other than those you have already observed
If it is an allergic reaction, it should not be any greater than what you have already seen.
