Good evening ma'am,
What ointment do you currently use? And do you have several cold sores a year?

I use Lypsil natural soothing compound for extreme cold sore relief. I also spray antiseptic hydrogen peroxide on it. I sometimes only get 2 a year at least

But my cold sore is big in the corner of my bottom lip. I would like some more effective. It's been 3 days now and nothing has changed.

Also I work in a daycare center and I know that cold sores are contagious.

Thank you for these details.
The products you are using are not optimal at this time. In fact, I do not recommend applying hydrogen peroxide to these lesions at all (nor Lipsyl™).
In lieu of these products, I recommend getting cold sore diachylons found in drug stores. These stickers are applied to cold sores to reduce their appearance and limit the spread of the virus (liquid from the cold sore is contagious).
Before applying diachylon, you may want to use Abreva™ cream or Cold Sore FX, which seem to reduce the duration of the cold sore by a few hours.
If these techniques don't work, you may want to see a doctor to receive a prescription for a more effective cream or product, such as Acyclovir cream or Valtrex™ pills.
Tell me about it,
Alexandre Chagnon, pharmacist
