Should I continue taking Dayvigo even if I can't sleep?

72-year-old womana year ago
Hello, I am a 71 year old woman, in good health, I take Syntroid and Lipitor, Calcium and Vit. D. I exercise regularly. During my annual appointment with my doctor, he gave me a sample of Dayvigo 5 mg because I had been taking Seroquel 5 mg for a year but it took me a long time to fall asleep (between 30 and 60 min.) and I would wake up 2-3 or 4 times during the night but I would go back to sleep. I tried the new medication 3 nights and it woke me up more than it put me to sleep (less than 4 hours per night). I discussed it with the pharmacist and she advised me to persist because it can take up to a month to be effective. Not sleeping for a month seems unwise to me but she told me that after 3 nights of insomnia, I could take Seroquel to sleep one night and continue Dayvigo the next.

Hello!
According to the manufacturer of Dayvigo, it is recommended that you consult your doctor to re-evaluate the treatment if your insomnia persists after 7 to 10 days of taking it. Like your pharmacist, I suggest that you take your Seroquel if you are unable to sleep for 2-3 days in a row and your insomnia is having an impact on your daytime functioning
Be aware that the data regarding the effectiveness of Dayvigo is not impressive (this is the case for all insomnia medications) and that the effect may be different for each patient. Therefore, if you feel that taking Dayvigo is having a negative impact on your sleep, you may decide to stop it and resume your Seroquel. It is important to inform your doctor and pharmacist. However, if you want to give Dayvigo a chance, try to take it for at least 7 days
I hope I have answered your question correctly,
