I am currently taking an antibiotic for a urinary tract infection. I was wondering if my birth control pill is still effective?

Hello Ma'am,
Yes, your pill is still effective when being treated for a UTI, as the antibiotics that are used in this type of infection do not affect the pill enough to reduce its effectiveness.
If, however, your antibiotics are giving you a lot of diarrhea (which is quite rare), you may not be absorbing enough of your pill. In this case, it's best to use a second form of protection (condom) during your treatment and 7 days after.
Happy day,
