Is there an effective way to get rid of a mouth ulcer?

I have a mouth abscess in my cheek since 1 week. I put salt on it, but I was wondering if there was a more effective method to do?

Hello,
The first thing to do would be to stop applying salt directly on your ulcer. Indeed, being very irritating, salt does not help the healing of your ulcer and increases your pain. If you wish to gargle with a salt solution, I recommend the following quantities
  • 1 teaspoon of dissolved salt
  • 250 ml of lukewarm water
Otherwise, avoid hot, acidic, hard or spicy foods. There is no product that will help accelerate the healing process, which can take up to 1 to 3 weeks. The majority of products available in pharmacies are to reduce the pain. However, there are some gels to apply to protect the ulcer (ex: Orabase, Gengigel).
