Can the COVID vaccine disrupt my menstrual cycle?

18-year-old woman3 years ago
My period is late. I'm 7 days late and I did my 2nd dose of the COVID vaccine about 15 days ago (I've read testimonies that a lot of girls have had late or heavy periods). I've been menstruating for about 6 months now and I don't know how long it takes to get regulated but my last 2 cycles were 26 days long! Can you enlighten me? Is this normal? And maybe you will know a time frame in which I can get them back?

Hello Madam!
Unfortunately, the description of your case does not seem clear. You have been menstruating every 26 days for the past few months, right?

for 2 months, yes. I have read several testimonies of women who said that after taking the second dose of the COVID vaccine, they had a delay in their cycle and this is exactly what happened to me. (I haven't had my period for too long but I thought I was regular because my last two cycles were 26 days long). Is this due to the vaccine and can it stay for long?

Indeed, some people have reported an unbalanced menstrual cycle, or spotting, following the vaccine
In the vast majority of cases, this is not a serious situation, and it should resolve itself. As for the expected time interval for this, it is impossible to tell you with certainty.
I hope this helps, and I am available if you have any further questions!
