I was prescribed this medication because my glands and tonsils were so swollen that I had difficulty swallowing and I am seeing my doctor again tomorrow for a check-up to see if the medication is working.

Good morning, Madam,

In doing so, you may experience "side effects" from the high dose of cortisone. You may feel more awake tonight and have trouble sleeping. This should pass and tomorrow you can take your prescribed dose in the morning without worry.

In this case, I would take the medication back and contact the pharmacy to get an extension (you will be 1 dose short). It is possible that the medication has had time to be absorbed, but we can't be sure. The wisest thing to do is to take a new dose, because your situation is quite serious and a delay in recovery could have serious consequences (having to receive your doses intravenously, among others).
