Hello, I was just prescribed Naproxen 500mg for a toothache. Is it risky to take it since I am trying to get pregnant?

Hello,
Thank you for your question
First of all, you should know that toothache is a pain that is sometimes difficult to relieve. In pregnancy, anti-inflammatory drugs like Naproxen are a good choice of treatment when acetaminophen (Tylenol) is not effective. Naproxen is recommended to be avoided in the 3rd trimester and should be avoided in the 1st trimester only in women with a history of recurrent spontaneous abortion
So, in case you are in the planning stage of a pregnancy, I see no problem with you taking Naproxen to relieve your toothache. It can also be combined with acetaminophen
I wish you the best of success in your endeavor
Justin
