Trintellix, or Vortioxetine, is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that acts similarly to other SSRIs (Paxil, Prozac, etc.). Marketing studies have shown that this drug may cause less sexual dysfunction and less weight gain than other SSRIs. Interestingly, it may also be favorably linked to cognitive gains in people with depression. In other words, this drug may improve memory, learning and attention somewhat, functions often reduced by depression.

Also note that many people experience nausea with this medication (especially at the beginning of treatment) and that its higher cost compared to other SSRIs makes it a second-line choice when others have not worked.
