Hello, since the birth of my last child, my body has difficulty accepting the contraceptive pill. With the advice of a doctor, I had to change my pill about 6 months ago because it didn't suit me anymore. After all this time, it seemed to be working well, but now some small undesirable symptoms are starting to surface, sometimes spotting in the middle of my pack or almost no bleeding during my pill withdrawal period etc. but a machal symptom more than the others before my period and during my period I have incredible night sweats I wake up soaking wet almost every night, can this be related to the pill, a hormonal imbalance? I don't know if I should go back to my doctor again to change my pill :/ thanks in advance

And last but not least, my family doctor gave me a prescription to have my thyroid gland checked because other symptoms unrelated to my pill led him to believe that I might have hyperthyroidism despite normal tests in the past... I know that only the results of the test can give me an exact answer, but could it have something to do with my body suddenly having difficulty with the birth control pill?

This is a very good question! First of all, you should know that the night sweats you are suffering from right now are very unlikely to be related to your pill. However, it does require a medical evaluation, as several different causes could be identified. One of them is hyperthyroidism. People who suffer from it can have these types of symptoms. In addition, hyperthyroidism can make certain enzymes in your liver somewhat more efficient. This could theoretically affect the elimination of your pill, and be related to the spotting you mention in your question.

So yes, the hyperthroidism could be related to the fact that your body has been having trouble with your birth control pill recently.

Thank you very much, I'm going to take my test tomorrow morning, I'll wait for the results with impatience! Does this mean that my pill is no longer completely effective :o if this is the case?

Generally speaking, women who experience spotting are still "protected" when it comes to contraception. If you are concerned, you may still want to use a second method of birth control for the time being.
