Following a snowboarding accident, he has possibly 2 cracked ribs (according to the rescuer) and is in great pain. It's only been 24 hours, so he doesn't want to go to the hospital. He does not take any medication on a regular basis.

Hello,

Your question is a little unclear. First of all, Advil and Tylenol are already painkillers, so what painkiller do you want to replace them with? Morphine?

Unfortunately, this type of equivalence does not exist. The effects of opiates (morphine and its derivatives) cannot be replaced by Tylenol or anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil.

In the case of the person who had the snowboarding accident, she can effectively combine the use of Tylenol and Advil. To do so, it is recommended not to exceed the recommended daily doses, i.e. 8 tablets of Tylenol Extra Strength (500mg) and 12 tablets of Advil 200mg (regular). This person could then take 2 tablets of Tylenol, then 4 hours later take 4 tablets of Advil, and repeat 4 hours later the Tylenol, and so on.

However, try to take Advil with a snack or meal to avoid irritating the stomach.
