I would like to replace citalopram which delays ejaculation with another product. Which one do you recommend?

For men who do not suffer from erectile dysfunction, there are several medications that have been shown to delay ejaculation. Citalopram is one of them.

In your specific case, do you want to change it because of side effects or because it is not effective?

If citalopram treatment has just been initiated, waiting a few weeks (6) may correct the situation. This works in about 20% of men. If it doesn't, one could try to decrease the dose slowly, finding the right balance between effectiveness for anxiety and absence of side effects. This is especially true if you are having good efficacy with this product at the moment.

Other options are to switch medications, either in the same family as citalopram or in a related family. In one study consulted, switching to mirtazapine corrected sexual side effects in 70% of cases.

In short, there are many options available to you, just discuss them with your treatment team!
