Otitis externa and blocked ear?

My husband has an otitis externa. He finishes his treatment with Ciprodex tomorrow (7 days). The pain and discharge have stopped, but his ear is still blocked. Will this condition last much longer? Thank you very much, we will consult shortly if this persists.
