Otitis externa and blocked ear?

My husband has an otitis externa. He finishes his treatment with Ciprodex tomorrow (7 days). The pain and discharge have stopped, but his ear is still blocked. Will this condition last much longer?

Hello, thank you for your question.
Hopefully the treatment has helped many of your husband's symptoms
The blocked ear sensation may persist if there is any inflammation, water, or even wax build-up. However, he should notice that the sensation gradually decreases each day.
If not, within 2-3 days if no improvement in this symptom is reported, it would be prudent to consult a doctor to examine the ear, as he has recently presented with a condition requiring antibiotics and anti-inflammatories
Hope this helps, do you have any other questions?
