I am receiving my first lifetime vaccine this afternoon. Are there any reactions to be expected considering it's the flu shot?

You should be able to complete your work day after the vaccine. Most people feel pain at the injection site for a few days, and for some the pain is accompanied by redness and swelling.

Less common side effects may include fever, chills, fatigue, headache and dizziness. It is because of these side effects that it is recommended that you stay at least 15 minutes after the vaccine.

Note that a cold, wet compress can be applied to the injection site if redness and swelling occur, and that fever and headache usually respond well to acetaminophen/Tylenol.
