I took my sleeping pills and threw up 5 minutes later. I took them again, but I threw up again 15 minutes later. What should I do?

The first time I took my usual dose 2 Xanax 2mg tablets, 1 zopiclone tablet, and my Pantoloc 40 mg and my apo doxy 100 mg antibiotic. I threw up 15 minutes later (I got the time wrong I reversed the two times). Since it was 15 minutes, I took only 1 Xanax tablet and half a zopiclone. I did not take the antibiotic or the pantoloc again. I vomited again within 5 minutes. I didn't take anything again but I guess nothing was absorbed really.... The antibiotic came out completely I saw the orange tablet and some zoplicone came out too for the rest I don't know but I have to sleep and I don't know what to do...

Hello Ma'am,
First, you need to identify the cause of this vomiting. Is doxycycline newly prescribed? What are you taking it for? Have you tried taking Gravol ginger or anything else that may help with the vomiting?

I have been vomiting regularly lately, I have medication changes almost weekly for my high blood pressure and I am under a lot of stress and my body often reacts like this under these conditions: I vomit. The bedtime meds, aside from the antibiotics (doxycycline is the right name if I understand correctly) are meds that I have been taking for several years, but I am on my third course of antibiotics for bronchitis so I guess it doesn't help the heartache...

Thank you for this information. Indeed, doxy and doxycycline refer to the same antibiotic, doxycycline. And you are right, 3 rounds of antibiotics are not helping your situation at this time. Let's hope this one is the right one.

That being said, the medications you can take for heartache, without a prescription and without having to see a doctor again, are above all Gravol. There are ginger Gravol, which do not cause drowsiness, and regular Gravol, which can be found behind the counter at the pharmacy (but still without a prescription). Of course, if your heartache and vomiting are caused by stress, these medications may not work as well. In fact, Gravol is very good for managing nausea caused by other medications, but not so good for stress-related nausea. You can still try it in my opinion. You have little to lose.

Finally, you should know that if you have been taking Xanax and Zopiclone for several years, it is common for these medications to work less well, a phenomenon called drug tolerance. I recommend that you talk to your pharmacist to see if certain changes can be made to your medication to better help you manage your stress.

In the future, if you vomit within 30 minutes of taking your medication, you may consider it highly unlikely that you have absorbed it. It is then possible to take another dose. If it's been more than 30 minutes, or if you don't see the pills coming out at all, ask a pharmacist :).
