Hello,
My name is Émy Brochu and I am a pharmacy intern under the supervision of pharmacist Raphaël Parent. Regarding the COVID-19 vaccines, there is no known interaction with the antibiotic (amoxi clav 875+125 mg) you are taking. However, it may be best to mention that you are taking an antibiotic at the time of your vaccination. It is best to be cautious to avoid mistaking an event related to your infection as a complication or secondary reaction to the vaccination. For example, the onset of fever may occur in the days following vaccination. On the other hand, when undergoing treatment for a urinary tract infection, the appearance of fever may be an indicator of a complication of the infection that requires medical attention. However, this small potential risk of confounding bias is generally not enough to postpone vaccination since it is safe to receive it. You could therefore be vaccinated on the scheduled date, but in the event of a side effect or complication, it will be important to mention that you were on antibiotic treatment and that you received the COVID-19 vaccine. Do not hesitate to consult if you are unsure.
Do not hesitate to ask if you have any other questions,
Émy Brochu, Pharmacy student (3rd year),
under the supervision of Raphaël Parent, Pharmacist.
