Managing nausea during pregnancy is of the utmost importance to avoid dehydration (perhaps, even more important at this time of the year), nutritional imbalance, esophagus irritation and some other complications. If you feel that your nausea are poorly controlled non-withstanding the treatments that you have tried/are proposed here, you might consider consulting your pharmacist/doctor. Its also worth mentioning that your pharmacist/doctor might address the use of folic acid/pregnancy vitamins; if youre not already using them, I would also refer you to your doctor/pharmacist at this point. References point out to ginger for pregnancy related nausea, and traditional use of this natural product has been made for centuries. In spite of that, no proper safety studies have been made to rule out potential effects on the fetus and some concerns have been expressed over the effects ginger might have on its development. Since safer, readily alternatives are available, I would not recommend using ginger if nothing else has been tried. If drowsiness is out of question, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) may alleviate your symptoms, is known for its safety in pregnancy and its efficacy. No/low drowsiness are to be expected. If your nausea mainly occurs in the morning, you might want to discuss with your pharmacist the possibility of trying Diclectin (vitamin B6 + doxylamine) at bed time, a delayed action tablet that could help prevent/minimize the magnitude of your « morning sickness ». The doxylamine is know for causing drowsiness, but that drowsiness might be gone by the time you wake up and doxylamine + vit. B6 has the golden standard of pregnancy related nausea relief treatment for decades.
