I have transparent filaments that keep forming in my eyes. Why is this?

I have been having allergic reactions recently, as my eyes were very red and stinging. I think I figured out what it was. But the filaments are still there.

Hello Ma'am,
Do the filaments look like pus in the eye?
What was your allergic reaction due to, do you know?

No, they are transparent slimy filaments that stretch.
my allergic reaction was because of the laundry soap I was using. I think it was the fragrance or some other substance in the soap. I was using La Parisienne soap, and I switched to Biovert. Since then, it's better, but my eyes still sting sometimes. They are very sensitive and get red easily if I rub them too much.

Thank you!
So it may be related to allergies, although the main symptoms are no longer present. The filaments you describe are probably white blood cells, brought to the surface of the eyes to protect them.
You could try using lubricating drops to decrease the inflammation. A 2-week trial should be sufficient.
If not and symptoms persist, an optometrist should be consulted.
Happy day,
