i have been taking Emolax and Resotran for several years. Recently, a naturopath recommended psylium and Cascara. I stopped taking Emolax and since then my blood pressure has been rising. This was not a problem when I was taking Emolax. I would like to go back to Emolax and I wonder which one is less harmful in the long run? In my case it's chronic constipation and I can't function if I don't take it. Thank you

It is certainly less harmful to take emolax long-term than cascara. Indeed, emolax is frequently used for chronic constipation and is safe and effective in the long term. Cascara, on the other hand, is a stimulant laxative and there is a risk of making the intestine "lazy". Also, psylium is not bad, but I wonder if you are also taking pressure medication? Indeed, all medications should be taken at least 2 hours after the administration of psyllium, otherwise their absorption may be compromised and therefore their effectiveness.
