Quitting smoking (or moving away from second-hand smoke) is probably the most impactful change;
Achieving or maintaining a healthy weight. Women who have a BMI less than 17 or greater than 27 may have more difficulty getting pregnant;
For women who are very physically active (e.g., athletes), decreasing the intensity or duration of workouts may help regulate the menstrual cycle;
Have less than 3 drinks of alcohol and coffee per day. Decreasing your spouse's alcohol intake may also have some impact on the likelihood of pregnancy when the man is a heavy drinker;
Reduce stress. Although this is easier said than done, it could have a big impact on some people.
Have sex regularly every 2 to 3 days. This allows for at least two effective sexual encounters, i.e. during the 6 fertile days of the menstrual cycle, and reduces the stress of having sex at the "best" time.
