I started Cephalexin 500 mg 4 times a day for 3 days for an infection of the sweat glands under the right armpit. There is no improvement since the treatment, even the glands are getting bigger and more inflamed. The treatment was supposed to be for 5 days but the doctor put me 1 renewal to do another 5 days if the healing is not complete after the treatment. Should I see my doctor again to change my antibiotic since it doesn't seem to be working? I am currently taking Advil 400 mg every 6 hours to control the pain which is quite severe. I also use hot water compresses in the evening. Thank you so much for your help!

Hello, I am also concerned about the lack of response from the antibiotic after 3 days of treatment. Especially if you tell me that the symptoms seem to be getting worse instead of better (progression of the swelling, inflammation). I think it would be prudent to reconsult the doctor, especially since sometimes this kind of infection may require a treatment of intravenous antibiotics, so it's better to be more careful. Don't hesitate if you have any other concerns or questions, have a nice day!
