Why is it not advisable to drink alcohol while taking Accutane?

My friend drank alcohol even though his pharmacist told him it was not recommended and I wonder if it has a harmful effect on the liver in the long run.

Good evening ma'am,

It is indeed very hard on the liver to deal with the elimination of alcohol and Accutane™.

Concurrent intake should be avoided as much as possible, to prevent the irreversible liver damage it could cause.
