I have blood in the toilet after a bowel movement, what should I do?

Hi, for the past few days when I have a bowel movement, there is clear blood in the toilet and especially on the toilet paper. I think it's due to an internal hemorrhoid. What can I do?

Good morning, ma'am,
If you have irritation or pain, an ointment like Anusol Plus can be applied inside and outside twice a day and after each bowel movement if needed.
Is the problem the result of constipation or hard stools?

I believe that there was indeed a slightly harder stool that would have injured an already present hemorrhoid. If I don't have pain do I still apply the ointment? Can the ointment help to heal and stop the bleeding after a bowel movement?

Thanks for the feedback!
If you are not in pain, the bleeding will probably resolve itself
For constipation, taking PEG-3350 (LAX-A-DAY, Restoralax and other brands) can help soften the stool. I encourage you to eat lots of fiber (fruits and vegetables, whole grains, etc) and drink lots of fluids to soften the stool.
I hope I have been helpful and I am available if you have any further questions!
