Can I take Neocitran at night if I am breastfeeding?

Is it okay to take Neocitran? I am breastfeeding a 4 month old baby exclusively. On the box, it says to talk to a pharmacist or doctor.

Hello,
You will notice that most of the products on the web will indicate to consult a professional if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, because the companies are trying to protect themselves since they usually have not done any studies on this population.
That being said, it is true that Neo Citran is not usually recommended for women who are breastfeeding, especially exclusively. This is because this brand of product usually contains decongestants inside (pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine) which have been associated with decreased milk production. Personally, I would never recommend Neo Citran as it contains far too many ingredients that are often unnecessary.
If you are looking for a product with a decongestant effect, it would be better to use a saline spray (the best option) or, as a last resort, a nasal decongestant spray. The latter acts locally and does not reduce milk production. In short, the best option for you would be to get advice from your local pharmacist who will take the time to look at the different products in more detail with you, depending on your condition.
