my boyfriend said he never did it unprotected before me and I never did it before him, but I still want to make sure I'm clean. He also pulled out before coming, so he didn't ejaculate, but I still have a fear of having an itss

Hello,
It takes at least 14 days to detect Chlamydia after a risky relationship, while the delay is 7 days for Gonorrhea. Therefore, it would be best to wait 14 days to be tested for both. If you plan to stay with the same partner, it would be wise to have him/her tested as well. In fact, he may still be carrying an STI without having transmitted it to you during the first unprotected intercourse, but he could transmit it to you during other subsequent relationships, unless there is skin-to-skin contact
Note that other rare STIs that are caught through blood contact (Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis), take 3 months before they can be detected.

do I have to do a blood test, or is a urine test ok? Thank you

For Chlamydia and Gonnorhea, a sample is taken directly from the cervix or vagina. For the others (Hepatitis, syphilis, HIV), a blood sample is necessary
