Can I pass chlamydia to my partner if I had unprotected sex 4 days after taking the antibiotic?

Hello, I had chlamydia and had unprotected sex. It had been 4 days since I took my treatment. Is there any chance that I gave it to him? And will he give it back to me since we had sex last night?

Hello,
When a person tests positive for Chlamydia, all partners who have had sexual contact should be notified:
  • Within 60 days before the onset of symptoms or diagnosis
and
  • During the entire time one has symptoms (if you have any);
and
  • During antibiotic treatment
and
  • Less than 7 days after a single-dose (single-dose) treatment
So, it depends on the antibiotic treatment received.
If your antibiotic treatment was for 7 days, you completed it in full, and you had no symptoms, there would be no risk of transmission.
On the contrary, if your antibiotic treatment was only for one day (4 tablets in a single dose) and you had intercourse less than 7 days after taking the tablets, then yes there is a risk of transmission. This is because the antibiotic given in a single dose takes 7 days to have its full effect in clearing the infection. In this case, your partner must be advised to get tested and may also have to receive preventive treatment. Note that in this case, you cannot re-infect your own infection, but this does not prevent you from re-infecting yourself if your partner is unknowingly infected.

So if I understand correctly, I can't get the virus again if I gave it to him?

Yes, exactly. If he has currently got chlamydia and didn't know it, because he was never tested before, you can get it. Otherwise, you can't get the infection again if you just passed it on.
However, if you continue to have unprotected sex in the next few weeks, he doesn't get tested and he develops chlamydia, yes he could pass it on to you again.
