Can Vyvanse cause weight loss and delayed menstruation?

I have been taking Vyvanse for 5 months and have lost 43 pounds since then. What worries me at the moment is that I am 1 week late in my menstruation (no chance of being pregnant, my spouse is vasectomized).

Hello Mrs.,
Vyvanse, because of its psychostimulant action, can indeed cause weight loss in some patients. However, it is rare that the weight loss is as drastic as in your case. Usually, this medication suppresses the appetite somewhat. I recommend that you talk to your pharmacist if your weight loss is not at all intentional for you, as this loss of appetite may cause nutritional deficiencies.

As for your question, you should know that such a rapid weight loss could have unbalanced your menstrual cycle. If your weight is now very small, it is even possible that your body, in order to protect itself, stops your menstruation completely, as is sometimes the case with women athletes practicing high-level sports. In any case, I recommend that you discuss this weight loss with your doctor and see if a dose reduction or a change in the Vyvanse medication might be appropriate.
