I have been trying for a baby for 6 months. I notice that my luteal phase is very short (about 8-10 days). Is this a problem?

Hello!
How did you identify that your luteal phase was 8-10 days long?
Is your cycle regular or irregular, then the duration is how many days?
Normally, ovulation occurs 14 days before the start of the next period. Since your luteal phase is shorter, ovulation would occur 8-10 days before the start of your next period, not allowing time for the egg to implant in the lining of the uterus. The egg that would be fertilized after sexual intercourse would not have time to implant and would be expelled during the menstruation. Thus, it is likely that if your luteal phase is shorter than normal, you would have more difficulty getting pregnant.
If your cycle is less than 23 days, a consultation with your doctor would be necessary, to increase your chances of getting pregnant. Your doctor could prescribe a treatment, if necessary, to help you in your efforts.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
I was able to identify the length of the luteal phase since I've been doing ovulation tests for a few months. So I have found that there are only 8-10 days (depending on the cycle) between a positive ovulation test and the start of my period.
My cycle has been varying between 26-33 days since I went off the pill in March 2020.
Is there anything I can do to increase the duration of the luteal phase? Should I consult?
Thank you very much!"

Thanks for the information!
What tests do you use? Usually, most tests will identify a rise in the hormone in the urine, but without being able to really put your finger on the exact date of ovulation.

Hello,
I use Personnelle brand ovulation tests sold in pharmacies (the ones that are similar to pregnancy tests).
thanks

Thank you!
And in a "standard" cycle, a positive result is displayed on the test for how many days in a row?

Hello,
Generally, when I saw that the test was positive, I would not retest afterwards the following days.... Do you have to test several days after having a positive ovulation test?
Thanks!

Normally, a positive test means that ovulation will occur within the next 24-48 hours. The positive result does not necessarily mean that ovulation will occur on this day, but more of an increase in hormone levels. There are often several positive results several days in a row (3-5 days). You could try testing for ovulation for a few days and see how many days in a row the result is positive, after having an initial positive result.
Using the first day you have a positive result, your luteal phase calculation will not be accurate. You would have to calculate your ovulation date as being approximately in the middle of all your positive results.
I hope I have answered your question!
